The reconstruction of damaged architectural elements always represents a technical and artistic challenge, even more complex when the interventions take place at high heights, such as the 30 meters of the main facade, and with elements weighing more than half a ton. Thanks to the collaboration with IBIX Cantieri Srl, under the expert supervision of restorer Simona Panvini, CUSENZA MARMI achieved a flawless reconstruction.
Precision Craftsmanship and Technological Innovation
The intervention required great precision to ensure a perfect integration of the new elements with the original ones. Every point of contact was meticulously designed and implemented to respect the aesthetic and structural harmony of the historic context, thus restoring the facade to its former glory.
Historical and Cultural Significance of the Library
Located in the former "Massimo della Compagnia di Gesù" College, a monumental building founded in 1586, the Central Library of the Sicilian Region continues to fulfill its historic function as "Domus Studiorum." Its history spans centuries, having housed the Royal Library in 1782, becoming the National Library in 1860, and finally assuming in 1977 its current name dedicated to Alberto Bombace.
Today the library is a key reference point for scholars and citizens alike, with about one million volumes, including priceless specimens dating back to the 10th century.
Collaborations of Excellence for a Quality Result
Collaboration with IBIX Cantieri and its specialized divisions ensured an innovative approach, using advanced techniques in the field of conservation and restoration. The intervention was conducted under the direction of the Superintendence BB.CC.AA. of Palermo, ensuring a result that combines respect for the historical heritage with modern technological excellence.
